5 Luxury Bathroom Trends Elevating Modern Design
Luxury bathrooms have evolved far beyond the utilitarian. Today, they serve as serene sanctuaries; spaces where design meets indulgence, and where every detail is intentional.
Whether nestled within a city penthouse or a coastal retreat, the modern luxury bathroom is a showcase of innovation, natural materials, and sophisticated simplicity.
At Trevor Fulmer Design, we’ve had the opportunity to bring many of these trends to life through our portfolio. From high-contrast finishes and spa-inspired layouts to sculptural lighting and custom millwork, here are five of the top luxury bathroom trends we’re seeing in 2025, and how we’re interpreting them for our clients.

“A well-designed bathroom is more than a beautiful space, it’s a moment of daily luxury, a place to begin and end your day with intention.”

1. Sculptural Statement Vanities
Forget predictable cabinetry. Today’s luxury bathrooms are elevating the vanity from functional to focal. Sculptural vanities, crafted from rich woods, natural stone, or even floating marble slabs, are redefining what it means to “make a statement.”
In Trevor’s personal bathroom renovation, currently underway, we’re embracing this concept with a custom-designed floating vanity in warm walnut, paired with a honed stone countertop that adds depth without overpowering the space. Plumbing rough-ins and demo are complete, and this next phase allows us to install intentional architectural details that balance function and form.
In our Postmodern Naturals project, the primary bathroom features a built up countertop, with freestanding wood veneer vanity.
Why it works: A sculptural vanity instantly draws the eye and offers an opportunity to introduce bold materials or bespoke detailing into a typically overlooked space.
2. Unexpected Texture Play
In the world of luxury bathrooms, it’s not just about what you see, but what you feel. Texture layering through wall treatments, textiles, flooring, and decorative accents is one of the most compelling trends of the year.
The powder room in Nautical Noir takes a softer approach. We used textured wallpaper from our Natural Principles collection, Ascent in Dusty Path, to provide subtle depth on the walls, complementing a minimalist mirror and fluted vanity. The result is calming and quiet, yet undeniably refined.
Why it works: Textural variety engages the senses, adds dimension to monochromatic palettes, and allows for a nuanced take on luxury.
3. Spa-Inspired Design
Clients are increasingly asking for bathrooms that feel like boutique hotel spas; a place to unwind and recharge. This trend isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about experience. Oversized showers with built-in benches, steam features, heated floors, and integrated lighting are all becoming standard in luxury projects.
In our Skyline Sophistication project, the primary bath channels spa culture through layered neutrals, a large walk-in shower with dual rain heads, and a sculptural freestanding tub. The palette is soft and serene, enhanced by natural light that filters in through frosted windows and bounces gently off limestone floors.
We're also seeing a rise in natural wood elements, even in moisture-prone areas, thanks to better sealants and performance finishes. A teak stool or a fluted oak vanity adds warmth to otherwise sleek spaces.
Why it works: Spa-inspired bathrooms prioritize wellness, comfort, and tranquility, without compromising high design.
4. Dramatic Lighting Moments
Lighting has always been critical in bathroom design, but now it’s taking center stage. Statement sconces, integrated LED coves, and sculptural pendant lights are replacing harsh overheads and creating a layered glow that flatters both people and materials.
One of our favorite examples is from the Nautical Noir project, where we suspended satin nickel pendants above the vanity. The layering of lights and mirror result in a luxe bathroom experience, challenging the norms of bathroom lighting.
In Trevor’s own bathroom remodel, we’re introducing lighting niches around the vanity and shower for a custom, built-in effect, designed to function like natural daylight and enhance the texture of the surrounding finishes.
Why it works: Good lighting elevates every surface, sculpts the space, and creates ambiance. Luxury lives in the details, and lighting is the detail that transforms.
5. Artistic Wallpaper & Floor Coverings
Wallpaper in the bathroom? Absolutely, and it's not your grandmother’s floral prints. Thanks to advancements in durability and water-resistant materials, wallpaper is reclaiming its place in powder rooms and beyond.
Our Natural Principles collection was designed with this evolution in mind. Patterns like Lines Across The Sky or Braided in Bonsai are graphic yet organic, adding personality to even the smallest spaces. In the Ptown Pied-à-terre guest bath, we used a blueprint wallpaper in to echo the home’s nautical theme, creating visual cohesion across rooms.
We’re also seeing custom floor coverings emerge as an unexpected luxury. From patterned tiles to inset stone mosaics, these bespoke floors anchor the space and elevate the room's design narrative.
Why it works: Wallpaper and artistic flooring allow for bold expression in smaller doses, ideal for adding drama or storytelling without overwhelming a space.
