Interior Design Ideas for The Ritz-Carlton Residences

As the Ritz-Carlton Residences rise above Boston's historic South Station, they redefine luxury living in the heart of the city.

The “tower-atop-a-tower” design of The Ritz-Carlton Residences was conceived by Pelli Clarke & Partners, with interiors for the common spaces crafted by Jeffrey Beers International. Together, they offer a one-of-a-kind living experience in the heart of Boston. With breathtaking views, modern architecture, and world-class amenities, these residences are a canvas for elevated, luxury interior design. At Trevor Fulmer Design, we are a full-service interior design studio that specializes in curating refined, high-end interiors that feel both timeless and personal. Here are six principles we would bring to designing a bespoke condo in this new iconic development:

1. Maximize the Views Through Strategic Layouts

Living at an elevation of more than 450 feet is a complete luxury, and it’s essential that floor plans are designed to celebrate the sweeping views of the Boston skyline and harbor. At TFD, our approach emphasizes thoughtful room flow and spatial planning—orienting key living areas toward the windows by placing seating, dining, and even beds to frame and highlight the panorama beyond. To read more about floor plans, explore our blog post titled How to Make a Small Space Feel Bigger.

2. Embrace Elegant & Understated Window Treatments

In a space where the “view is the art”, less is more. We favor clean-lined, motorized window treatments in tonal neutrals that soften light without distracting from the architecture or skyline. When open, they virtually disappear. When closed, they offer serenity, privacy, and a subtle layer of luxury. See how we introduced a simple earth-toned roller shade in the primary bedroom of our Modern Elegance project.

3. Blend New High-End Materials With The Existing

From the Calacatta Gold marble kitchen countertops, quarter-sawn walnut cabinetry, and European white oak flooring, to Kallista polished nickel fixtures, and Bianco Dolomiti marble tiles, the existing finishes are ultra premium. The introduction of a new curated palette of materials will seamlessly blend with these base elements. Newly introduced textures bring warmth, depth, and quiet drama to the space. At TFD, we believe true luxury is in the contrast of refinement and restraint. See how luxe materials come to life in our Contemporary Kitchen project.

4. Emphasize Custom Millwork and Built-Ins

Customization is key in maximizing both aesthetics and function. Built-ins designed to match the interior architecture offer discreet storage and sculptural beauty. Custom millwork and built-ins are tailored to maintain sightlines while functioning seamlessly. See how we introduced a custom murphy bed system into our Postmodern Naturals project.

5. Integrate Smart Home Technology Discreetly

Luxury today includes integrating tech. We prioritize integrated lighting, climate, and AV systems that enhance comfort without overwhelming the visual design. Hidden speakers, touchless controls, and programmed lighting scenes are built in, not tacked on. See how we integrated smart lighting into this a custom home gym project titled Home Health Haven.

6. Customization that Reflects Lifestyle and Legacy

Interiors should be as tailored as a bespoke suit or dress. We work closely with our clients to understand how they live, entertain, and recharge. Every detail, from a concealed bar to a multifunctional den, is imagined with purpose and precision, ensuring the space feels like home. See how we incorporated a vast art collection into our clients home in our project Neutral Nuances.
